Our trip started out with a Lake Day with our high schoolers from church. It was fun!
Last week Mike and I had the chance to visit one of our favorite places in Texas, His Hill. Since I grew up going to summer camp there (10 years!) and Mike completed his 2 years of Bible school there, AND we were both counselors together for 2 years, AND it's where we first met 6 years ago, AND became a couple 5 years ago... it's pretty special to us.
And it's just an amazing place.
Buuuuut first we had to stop at Buc-ee's.
Which this one just so happened to be literally the largest convenient store in the country!
I mean, HUGE!
But sadly, this is what happens when you leave gummies in your car in the Texas summer heat! :( Sad day.
One of my old campers!
Then we trekked the 4.5+ hours to Lake Jackson to visit more people from the Hill! I had been a camper with Nathan for years... basically every year I went to camp since he lived there! And we also went to Bible school together in Costa Rica for 1 year and were counselors together afterwards. Mike went to Bible school with Nathan's wife, Davina during his 2nd year and also worked together at camp.
It was so much fun getting to hang out with them for the weekend. We were
Sorry... I didn't get any pictures from the beach! Buuut I did remember to get pictures of shoes that Davina and I really wanted to buy!
And while doing a great job at convincing our husbands we "needed" these heels, I about fell over and took all the other shoes... maybe Davina too, with me!
There we go! Stay classy San Diego.
Then we went to see The Dark Knight Rises! Woo! We were the 1st people in line... which there wasn't much of a line to begin with, but we wanted the seats with the bar in front, so you gotta do what you gotta do. Aaaaand lemme just say- people who bring their children into movies like that should have their own little room to sit in because: 1.) THEY ARE CHILDREN WHO SHOULDN'T BE SEEING THAT MOVIE!!! 2.) Those kids make too much noise and are obnoxious and 3.) see reason 1.
We visited their church the next morning which was fun. People trying to convince us to move down there... I'm not sure I could take the humidity or mosquitos! We had a great time and decided that since we don't really live that far apart from each other (about 2.5 hours) that we should at least make time to meet half way each month or alternate who goes where. So yay for friends!
I can't believe July is almost over! Next week we will be in Birmingham on a mission trip with our youth group! Please pray for that trip that the Lord will be working in the hearts of the people there, as well as ours.
enjoying what's left of summer,
lisa
